Ground motion scaling factor in minor direction
I want to perform bi-direction dynamic analysis but I do not know how to calculate the scale factor of ground motion in minor direction. Suppose I want to use ELcentro earthquake gound motion in X major direction and Y minor direction. The maximum value of ground motion is 0.25g in X-diection and 0.15 g in Y direction. Now, if I want to scale to 0.4g, then scaling factor for X-direction becomes 1/0.25*0.4. Then how to calculate scale factor in y-direction.

Re: Ground motion scaling factor in minor direction
bro, I don't know how to solve your problem, but can I ask you that how can you get the scaling factor (0.25 and 0.15) in X, Y direction? I wanna add the ground motion from the NGA.west website but I don't know how and where I can get this scaling factor value. thank you.
