Does ConfinedConcrete01 Material refer to the core+cover?
Hi,
I would like to ask if the ConfinedConcrete01 Material refers to the whole section.
I mean is it used to define only the core material, or it includes the cover material as well?
It would be great if someone can help me with this.
Thank you.

You can use it to define both core and the cover. You just need to use different parameters for each. For core, you need to use confined concrete parameters. It is better to use Concrete02 than Concrete01

Hi Selim,
Thanks for your reply and suggestion.
I am referring, specifically, to ConfinedConcrete01 Material model (http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... 1_Material).
I mean, does this model refer to the whole section (core+cover) or only the core material?
Thanks for your reply and suggestion.

Better not to use Concrete01 for core elements. I faced same dielemma some 3 years ago

Hi Prafullamalla,
Thanks for your suggestion. I necessarily need to use ConfinedConcrete01 model in order to apply the FRP wraps later.

You can use Concrete02 or Concerete01 for the cover.
Re: Does ConfinedConcrete01 Material refer to the core+cover?
In my opinion the ConfinedConcrete01 model is for the core concrete (surrounded by reinforcing bars) while for the cover it is suitable the Concrete01 (or others). When you are to analyze a seismic improvement by an outer layer of FRP on a section already reinforced by steel bars I am not sure but I think you should use two different ConfinedConcrete01, one for the core and another for the 'cover' (actually confined by FRP).
