2D frame of a real building

Post by jfrendong »

Hi, I'm working on a 2D model of an existing office building structure, we need to do the seismic analysis but we couldn't found yet some information about the reinforced of beams and columns, I don't really know if that information is necesary at this part of the analysis for the openSees, I'd really apreciate if someone could help me with that . thanks

It all depends on the type of analysis and element you want to employ in your model. For example, in case of linear analysis , if elastic beam column element is used, reinforcement details are not required. But, if you wish to carry out nonlinear analysis, then of course you need to know reinforcement details.
