Geometric transformation for gusset rigid link

Post by Toutant »

Dear all,

I am modeling gusset plate at the end of steel diagonal bracing with Elastic Beam-Column and zeroLength springs. Columns and Braces are using corotational geometric transformation but assuming I want to transfer the full load from the braces to the columns do you have any suggestion on what type of geometric transformation to use for the Elastic Beam-Column in the rigid part of the gusset plate? (Linear or Corotational ?)

Thanks.

depends if you expect large displacement (translation and rotation) at the location .. you could always do the analysis with both and compare the result to see if it matters yourself.
