Hi, can we use 'basicDeformation' for recording element's rotations in a 'nonlinearBeamColumn' element?! If the answer is NO, how could we record plastic rotations in such elements?! Is the only way for doing so, recording the curvatures (using 'deformation' in each intPoint) and then calculate the rotations?! Thanks.
P.S. I know that we can use it in the script and it will lead to some outputs, but I want to know if the results (rotations) are trustworthy!

Re: basicDeformation in nonlinearBeamColumn elements
you can .. the basic system is one axial deformation and 2 end rotations .. these will not be the plastic rotations: these are the end rotations which include some elastic and some plastic components. there is an option to obtain an estimate of the plastic deformations, see the element command page for just exactly what is is you get.
