Digit limit on ID Tags

I was wondering if we could easily increase the maximum number of digits a tag ID can be in OpenSees. The currently limit is at 9 digits which can be limiting if you are working with large models and decide to have a node/element numbering sequence that corresponds to the grid number the node/element is situated at.
Would it also be easy to use Alphanumeric Tags instead of integers?
