Convergence problems (five-span simply supported bridge)

Post by omalvarez »

Hi dear all
I have a question and I hope you can help me. I am working about a bridge (my thesis work, five-span simply supported bridge) and I am running nonlinear analysis (20 ground motions). I have used concentrated plasticity elements at columns, I have ran the model along longitudinal direction and the analysis result reasonable, but when I run it along transversal direction I get convergence problems with 2 ground motions and the displacements increase until very long values.
I using HystereticMaterial at hinges and I use moment-curvature column diagram to characterize hysteretic material.
