Getting geometric properties from within a material model

I'm working on a material model. The material behavior depends upon the geometric properties of the model (such as length of a cross section). Is it possible to grab these properties from within the material model? How would I do this? Thank you!

these info is not available from the section .. can they be provided by the user as an i/p arg to the material.
