Recently I asked how to model Viscous Damping and I had been directed to this example:
http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... _Material/
I read the explanation of this example and in this example it is discussed that element "forceBeamColumn" should be used for viscous element.
But when I downloaded the example, "nonlinearBeamColumn" element is used in tcl files.
Now I am wondering which element is more appropriate to define Viscous damping, "forceBeamColumn" or "nonlinearBeamColumn"?

They're the same to me.

If you look at the manual you will see that to define force-based element you can use "forceBeamColumn" or "nonlinearBeamColumn".
