Problems with old model in new OpenSees

Post by mar »

Hello all,

I hope you are doing ok. I have some old models that ran in the previous version of OpenSees and now I can not run them in latest version. I have encountered this error:

" Warning:SuperLU::solve(void)-Error 3 returned in factorization dgstrf()"

Since it doesn't even run with gravity loads and stops at the beginning, I have checked the model and boundary conditions, hanging nodes, etc. I was wondering if there are problems with the zero length sections. I would appreciate your help on this matter.

Sincerely,
Mar

Hello,

I have look into the problem and it was the definition of the zero-length sections. I am using uniaxial material in series. I think the problem is in the series material definition. I have changed to others and the analysis did run. I would appreciate your help on this matter. Thanks.

show me the commands you are using to generate the series material(i.e series comamnd and all materials that are used).
an easy way to test it will be to put this in a SDOF problem and see if it returns a failure at the start.,
