Difference between some orders

Post by sabir »

Hi all
dear all, in my research i used nonlinearBeamColumn for elements to do nonlinear time histroy analysis under victoria earthquake,
the response were very big, then i used element dispBeamColumn, the responses was rational.
my question is, why when i used the nonlinearBeamColumn element for other earthquakes i got rational responses. morever when i use the element nonlinearBeamColumn and dispBeamColumn for one accelerogram i have got diffrent answers, while i expect to have same responses.
please help me
thnx

the 2 elements will only give the same result if the section is elastic or the materials remain elastic. otherwise they can result in very different responses. to get the results to approach one another you need to add more disp beam column elements,

see the following
