Applying fix pore pressure in brickUP element

Post by deepak »

Hi Frank and all,
I was wondering is there any way to apply fix pore pressure value in brickUP element during time history analysis. I want to do gravity analysis and after gravity analysis, I want to fix the pore pressure at the base of the model at constant value, during my time history analysis.

I have tried to follow this example http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... ifuge_Test. But I could not get it done as my model does not even run a single step in time history analysis. I am wondering what will happen to velocity data for brickUP element since it has 4 DOF ( 3 for space and 1 for fluid). The 4th DOF is pore pressure related to velocity? How the OpenSees would figure out whether it is velocity or fluid pressure if I applied as MultipleSupport motion.

I am badly stuck with this problem. Please provide me some suggestion to accomplish my work.
Thanks
