Moment-Curvature Analysis with Concrete04 ConfinedConcrete01

Post by marcoita »

Hi everyone,

I am trying to perform some Moment-Curvature Analysis in OpenSees. If I use the Concrete01 material for the confined concrete, the program performs the analysis correctly, but when I use the Concrete04 or the ConfinedConcrete01 I got the message "WARNING: CTestEnergyIncr - failed to converge". I don't change anything between among the .tcl files except the material for the confined core, so I still use the Concrete01 for the cover.
I don't understand what can be wrong in my file, do you have any idea about it?
Is it possible to use the Concrete04 ot the ConfinedConcrete01 to perform a Moment-curvature analysis?

Thank you,

Marco

Yes, it is possible to use any of OpenSees materials in your analysis. Make sure to define the materials properly. Some of the materials are defined with the functions easier to solve and some are defined with more complicated functions that can create convergence problems. Do you do the analysis in a while loop? If not, check this example: http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... r_Analysis. Notice that this script is developed for a pushover analysis.
