p-delta effect

I am studying the opensees , and a freshman.I want to know how the p-delta effects are considered in the structral analysis.

they are modeled using the geometric transformation command.

I am sorry ,I don't know the principle the geometric transformation is based on.Can you illustrate it detailly. Thank you very much!

Can you give me some important papers on which P-delta effects are based in opensees programe or illustrate it detailly?

This method is given to the program by the transformation command. it is even better to use corrotational command for nonlinear analysis. this method is faster. for more information you can read some finite element books like Bathe or wilson.
