Arc-Length Integrator

Post by ronnypurba »

Does anybody ever use Arc-Length Integrator for pushover analysis? It said from my reading that this method is a good integrator for which strength degradation occurred in a structure. I am learning how to use it on OPENSEES but can't completely understand. For example, what's the criteria to let the analysis stop like in displacement/load control has (i.e., target displacement/target load)?

Thanks

Arc-Length integrator is good if you expect snap-back response of your structure. If you want to capture strength degradation of your structure displacement control integrator would be the right one to use.
