zero-Length element

Post by jovo »

Hello,

I would like to ask that if I use in the zero-Length element the -orient part of the command and I give -dir according to the local axes is it the same like if I do not give -orient and I give the -dir according to the global axes? Because in the manual it says that <-orient> is optional and when it is not specified the local element axes coincide with the global axes.

I run my model with both ways but I got different results.

Thank you very much.

-orien option should be used if your spring elements does not coincide with the global axes (e.g., if it is oriented 45 degrees from x axis). Otherwise I would recommend you to use only -dir option. I feel it is less confusing this way.
