A question about the duration of analyses in opensees!

Post by foadEng »

Hi
I am modeling 3D structures in OpenSees. I have modeled a six story (3D) building and I want to perform some pushover analyses. But the problem is that it takes a long time to finish the analysis! Even for gravity analysis, it takes about 4 or 5 minutes to finish the analysis! I just wanted to know that if this is normal or not? Is this related to this fact that my model is three dimensional or not?!
Thank you very much

A six story 3d building can be large or small depending onhow you model it and number of bays in x and y directions! .. if your model is taking a long time change the solver to be a sparse one, SparseSPD or Umfpack work well.
