rayleigh damping

Post by dkkim »

Hi~
I analyzed a soil structure interaction model with OpenSees.

I used a rayleigh damping.
The manual says " This command is used to assign damping to all previously-defined elements and nodes "

Q1.

Because I have two materials; steel and soil.
I have to apply another damping ratio to each material.

But in my analysis model,
the previously-defined damping matrices were overwrited by second damping ratio matrices.
Is it correct in OpenSees?

Is there another method to use different damping ratio in a model with Ver. 2.0.0 ?

Q2.

The e-mail said

New command to set the setElementRayleighDampingFactors to set an individual elements damping factors.

in Ver. 2.1.0

So, I'd like use the command, would you please let me know how to use the command?
(example or tcl command line)

And Is the Ver 2.1.0 available in a parallel machine?
:D

you can use regien command to assign different rayleigh damping coefficient.

can you please send me your input file? I'm also working on SSI problem.
