Element Recorder Question

Post by lindaatik »

Hello,

I am trying to perform a dynamic analysis on a retaining wall+backfill model. I am interested in recording the moments on the wall and I am using element recorders for that purpose.

I am confused about what the recoded moments exactly mean. Are they just the moments on the wall resisting the dynamic earth pressure? Or are they the moments resisting the dynamic earth pressure plus the inertial force on the wall (-mass of the wall * acceleration)?

I greatly appreciate your help. Thanks,
Linda.

Internal resisting moments, i believe.
