what should we assign for factor of earthquake in IDA in line: set accel "Series -dt 0.01 -filePath file.txt -factor [expr
> > ($gmf)*9.81]" ,I mean what number is good for 'gmf' and what step for increasing is suitable?

Re: factor of earthquake acceleration in IDA
it depends to your structure and ground motions under study
try large numbers first like 10 to 15, see if your structure collapse or not. I don't thing for available records and ordinary frames, larger number would be necessary. but for weak structures an scale factor about 4 can cause side collapse or large amount in story drift. after defining this factor, 50 steps would be enough for many purposes.

Re: factor of earthquake acceleration in IDA
tnx etm, what should be the value of steps?
Re: factor of earthquake acceleration in IDA
if the collapse factor is for example $gmf=10 then 10/50=0.2 would be a good value for steps. 50 steps is enough I think.
