Using "fiber" option to create section

Post by blaiman »

I'm curious as to how using the fiber option in creating the cross-section would work. All the examples shown on the OpenSees site use the patch and layer option and I couldn't find one using fiber. What puzzles me about using the fiber option is given the y location and z location, does this designate the center location of the fiber? If so, how does OpenSees generate the fiber given the area; is it assuming it will be a perfect square which will satisfy the inputted area wanted? Any input to this subject/question would be appreciated. Thanks!

Although I couldn't understand your question clearly, find this example in OpenSees site which uses fiber element for the reinforcements of the RC section.
