Dear Sir or Madam
I would like to model a friction slider connection.
I had in mind Zero Length element, and then I struggled to provide a proper uniaxialMaterial command which can represent a friction sliding model
may be the below command suits:
uniaxialMaterial ElasticPP $matTag $E $epsyP
the problem is that stress=E* epsyP while I have a threshold Force for Sliding, I'm confused about how to apply the model ....
would you please help me
friction slider modeling

Re: friction slider modeling
you should look at the flatSliderElement http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... ng_Element and an appropriate
friction model http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... el_Command
friction model http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... el_Command
Re: friction slider modeling
thanks a lot,
I've seen that command but I was not sure

First Q:
Dear Sir or Madam
Regarding to your guide I had a look to the flatSliderElement
element flatSliderBearing $eleTag $iNode $jNode $frnMdlTag $kInit -P $matTag -T $matTag -My $matTag -Mz $matTag
In this command I do not have any Idea about how to determine the (Kint)
When I define a very big (Kint) the structure becomes unstable with a very great period and when I define a small (Kint) the structure becomes stiff. This issue is completely confused me. I DO NOT HAVE ANY CLUE about the parameter (Kint).
Would you please help me???

Second Q:
Dear Sir or Madam
In order to find out about the basis of Kint I tried to investigate the out puts of FlatSlider Element.
The problem is that the out put files are all empty (even for the example presented the out put for Friction force and Normal force is empty) I applied the -xml option instead of -file option, but it seems that the out put is not defined for this element???
Since having the friction and Normal forces is vital for verifying process of the analysis
Would you please help in this issue too???
Kindest Regards
