Load on a edge of quad element

Hello,
I'm new to opensees and i have some small problems.
I'm trying to verify the simpliest problem in soil mechanics, settelement due to surface load. My problem is in defining the load on the element. Is there a way to do that or do I have to define pressure in element command:
element quad $eleTag $iNode $jNode $kNode $lNode $thick $type $matTag <$pressure $rho $b1 $b2>

you can also apply nodal loads.

Thank you for the advice. I've imputed the load in that way.
Noticed in the manual that solid elements cannot be loaded with something like edge load.
