Concrete Columns under Axial Compression

Post by mattroidena1 »

Hi everyone,
I have a problem when simulating the Behavior of Concrete Columns under Axial Compression as follows:
I used 2D 2-nodes column with the forceBeamColumn type to model the columns made by high strength concrete (90-100 MPa) and high strength reinforcement bars (785 MPa). However, I got the results that is significantly higher than the experiment testing data and even the stress of concrete material. That is unreasonable due to the "size effect" when the columns (have a section bigger than the cylindrical one) subjected to axial compression but I don't know how to consider the size effect factor when using OpenSees model.
Does any one know how to fix my problem ? Could you give me some suggestions for that?
I would be deeply appreciated any help, thank you !
