units of records?
Hi everybody
1- In time history analysis, when we use mass in unit of kg, E and Fy in unit of N/m2, and ground motion records in unit of g (GMfatt [expr 9.81]), what will be the unit of column force and deformation?
2- What about , when we use mass in unit of kips.s2/in, E and Fy in unit of kip/in2, and ground motion records in unit of in/s2 (GMfatt [expr 1])?

Re: units of records?
OpenSees is unitless .. the units output are whatever you use in the input .. make sure all your input units are consistant.
Re: units of records?
thanks
it means: in first case the columns forces will be in unit of N ?
and in the second case, it will be in unit of kips?

Re: units of records?
exactly .. providing of course all you units are the same in the file (or files if you source other files) .. if not the results are meaningless.

Re: units of records?
and what about the displacements, the x, y and z are in [mm] for ex. but what about the rx, ry and rz? curvature?
Re: units of records?
rz,ry, rz: radians
