Hi,
Is anyone know if there are ways to model the compression only viscous damper in OpenSees? I try to model the rocking movement of a rigid block on the rigid foundation, and want to use a compression only damper to represent the energy dissipation mechanism once impacts happens.
Thanks

There are few compression only materials in OpenSees: Hyperbolic Gap Material, Impact Material, Elastic-Perfectly Plastic Gap Material, and Elastic-No Tension Material. You can find them here: http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... al_Command. Study them and see if any of them is capable of doing what you need.

Thank you, vesna. I found Impact Material would be very helpful.
