Shear deformation Non linear analysis

Post by ssotiria »

Dear all,
I would like to ask which element to use in order to consider the effect of shear in the nonlinear behaviour (material nonlinearity) of frame element, for nonlinear time history analysis (3d model). How can i include the strength degradation due to shear deformation in a time-history analysis?
Thank you in advance,
S.

If using frame elements the only way to account for shear effects is to add shear force-deformation relationship to your section using section aggreagator: http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... Aggregator

Be aware that this way of modeling does not provide PMV interaction. Shear won't interact with axial and bending moment.
