The best way to learn golf imho is by joining people you admire in the same way you are pretty close to them. They can be your friend or family. Anyway a completely stranger like golf trainers can help a lot.

I think the hands down best way to learn is being dynamic with who and what you learn from. Everyone has a different technique and all techniques are useful in developing a well rounded player. Everyone's body size and strength is different so you need to also find people that are similar to your build to see their techniques and the types of clubs they use. Hope this helps!

Get used clubs or an inexpensive starter set from a sporting goods store. The brand is not really that important. It might be helpful to take a golfer with you to make the selection. Then, sign up for a group lesson. Hit the range between lessons to burn the techniques into muscle memory. Golf is very much a "practice makes perfect" type of sport but for all but those with the gift of extraordinary hand/eye coordination. And even for them, consistency only comes with practice.
