how to model a maxwell viscous damper

Post by dinochen1983 »

how to model a maxwell viscous damper??
maxwell viscous is made up with a elastic bar and pure damper, but in opensees i can just model a pure damper, i try to make a Series uniaxialMaterial with damper and elastic material but the model cannot simulate the maxwell model. please give me an answer ,how to model a maxwell damper in OpenSees.

i have already use elastic truss, elastic bar means elastic truss,if you assign the property to truss with viscous material, that means the truss is not a elastic component, it's a pure viscous damper. so how to model maxwell damper is more difficult than bulit a pure damper.

Hello.

You could try making a uniaxial material based on the Maxwell element which you could apply to your truss element.
