geomTransf PDelta

Post by mohsenkh »

Dear

In example "Pushover and Dynamic Analyses of 2-Story Moment Frame with Panel Zones and RBS",which introduced in openseeswiki , it is applied "geomTransf PDelta" and Truss elements
used to link the frame and leaning columns and transfer the P-Delta effect.

I have two questions:

1) Does geomTransf PDelta only consider P-Delta effect? should this command be used with Truss elements and leaning columns?

2) In example, how were P_PD2 and P_PD3 load for point loads on leaning column nodes calculated?

Best regards;

1) The truss element is not associated with a geometric transformation. It deals with small displacemenet theory only, i.e.. linear statics. The CorotationalTruss can nhandle large displacements though small strain problems, i.e. nonlinear statics.
