how to get this hysteresis curve

Post by Raghav »

Hi,
I am modeling a steel moment frame for a three story SAC prototype model. For the moment connection of a Reduced Beam Section I want to obtain the hysteresis curve using a zero length spring element for the connection. The model was originally developed by yun and foutch(2000). I want to know which material or materials in opensees can simulate such behavior.
The image below shows what i want.

Thank you,

uniaxialMaterial--Hysteretic may be ok

uniaxialMaterial--Hysteretic may be able to simulate such behavior.

I'm doing the same thing you do.

look at pinching-4 material as well...

hysteresis curve

Post by Raghav »

hi,
thanks for the help regarding the suggested material. but i still have not been able to get the required behavior with either hysteresis material or pinching material. could anyone suggest me the value of pinchX, pinchY , damage1, damage2,beta....which i could possibly use, or even an idea for the parameters for the pinching4 material.

thanks

are you working on a NEES-R project?

i am working on the modeling of a SAC 3 story prototype building. I basically want to get the hysteresis of the rbs connection. after that i might be doing some reliability analysis of the frame. I do not think i am working for a NEES-R project.

i am not sure whether there is a material that does exactly what you want. you might want to try putting some materials in parallel to try to get that curve.
you might have to write your own material....
