curvature response

Post by crazylittleapple »

How can I recorder the curvature response of a member during transient analysis? Thanks.

what element do you have???
use an element recorder, and ask for deformations, but it depends on the type of element. look at the manual and then ask me again if you have questions.

Thank you very much for your reply. I am using nonlinear beam elements. I will check it out.

What's the meaning of the section deformation output for the nonlinear beam column element?

It's the curvature...

Thanks for your reply. However, there are several items and the format of the output is like:

Time var1 var2 var3 var4

what's the meaning of those variables var1, var2, var3, and var4? Thanks.

You should be getting three outputs

[time] [axial def] [curvature]

I apologize, documenting output is at the top of my to-do list, of course!!!

it all depends on the dimensions of your problem.
please post the first few lines and we can figure it out.
typically it is time axial curvature

Thanks a lot for you guys' replies. I figured it out. The output should be something like:

[time] [axial def] [curvature 1] [curvature 2] [torsional...]

Thanks again.
