Convergence Problem

Hi vesna

I made a simple spring model using steel02 material subjected to a ground motion. Based on the period of the spring and the response spectrum of the ground motion I estimate the displacement of the spring and calculate the corresponding initial stiffness and yield value ( K001 & Fyield & bbb1 = 0.05 for 10% assumed damp). However I got a convergence problem when my Keff = 100000 kips/in ( Fyield1 897, K001 1670796,bbb1 0.05), when my Keff less than 30000 kips/in ( Fyield1 867, K001 501239,bbb1 0.05) the model run fine. Can you tell me how to overcome this? Here is my model and the ground motion:

Thanks vesna, I tried but it still didn't converge. When I modeled the spring as linear the model works well, do you think the problem comes from the steel02 material.
