SMA
Please I want to know if opensees can now be used to simulate SMA's. If yes, how do I go about doing that cos I am new to the software.
Thanks
Thanks
Re: SMA
SMAs are Shape Memery Alloys. These alloys are presently attracting interest in being used as an active element in damping system. i am currently working on a design but i want to know if OPENSEES can now be used to simulates them.

Check out this material:http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... g_Material
It is a self centering material with a flag shaped hysteresis. I believe it can serve your purpose.

Re: SMA
Hi,
Please I am currently working on the response of reinforced concrete structure to proportional and nonproportional damping using a viscous damper. Does Opensees has the capability to model proportional and non proportional dampers? If yes, how doI go about it?
