Q about time history analyses for gap material element

hi all
I have a question about the analyses process for a model which use gap material, when the gap closed something happened make the analyses failed,
when I used the following numerical methods (algorithms) for solution
1- Newton
2- Modified Newton
3- Broyden
4- Kryov
5- BFGS
But when I used the following two methods the solution continue after the gap closed but with false results
1- Liner
2- Newton with liner search
