Adding BraceMaterial

Post by moshref »

Hi,

I has added a new materila to model brace buckling. This material is similar to Hysteretic Material but could model the buckling of braces, perfectly. I found a source code for this material in the dissertation of Dr. Chuang-Sheng Yang but unfortunately his code does not work correctly, so I reviewed and changed his code and verified its results with the presented data by Peer 2008/08. Although in recent research, such as Peer 2008/08 and Peer 2010/104, it was recommended to model braces by fiber sections and imperfection, but using fiber sections are not applicable to study arch truss bridges because of convergence problems and the time duration of analysis. Following this, I think adding this material could help other researchers who want to model braces. Now would you please let me know how I can send the source code to add in uniaxial material of opensees?

Hi I am currently working on my masters at Cal Poly, SLO. I am having some difficulty trying to model a buckling brace system. I was wondering if you can share any of your files that can help me to model a buckling brace. I understand that these files are your intellectual outcome; I will keep them confidential and for internal use only; I will also cite/acknowledge your work in any related publications.

Thank You,

Francisco Sanchez
