Limit state material-Shear Limit Curve

Hi all,
I am trying to define a shear limit curve object to be used with limit state material. I need some advice or references to set up the relevant parameters. Anybody can explain about :
1)when should we use positive value for $Kdeg and when negative value for this parameter?
2)What are we actually defining by the two paremeters of $defType and $forType?
3) What is the purpose of the parameter '$delta'?
4) Can we define all the parameters in SI units and expect to get the limit curve right
