GUI for OpenSees : Do you think Gmsh a viable option?

Post by sukumar_baishya »

Hi all,

By and large it is agreed upon that provision of GUI for OpenSees is one of the priorities for enabling large number of users to use OpenSees in solving practical problems. Different developers have added various interfaces, some of which work only in Windows platform. More over, they are capable to handle particular type of problems only., viz. structural, pile-soil etc.

Is it possible to interface Gmsh with OpenSees? This has the advantages like i) platform independence, ii) generality of application areas, iii) free.

Is there any work going on to explore this possibility? What are your opinions about it?

Thanks and regards
(Sukumar)

Hi all,

I completely agree with you. However, it is necessary that people who are already using Gmsh with OpenSees to share their advancement, and hence others would add to it.

I'm pretty sure that a Gmsh-OpenSees connection is out there. Please SHARE!!

Thanks,
Hisham
