!!!Bondslipmaterial Warning

Post by mpaksoy »

Hi Vesna and all,

In my opensees modelling documents, I have been using SI type unit source. I tried to add also the slip simulation for the bottom of column through uniaxialMaterial Bond_SP01 and zerolength section. However, when I run opensees has a warning "use ksi and in for strain penetration"
So is there a way of keeping everything in Sı units but just using US units for strain penetration. Or what else Ishould I do?
Please give me a hand.

Tahnk you so much.

If the author of this material implies the use of Imperial units there is probably a reason to it and I would stick to it. You can not define parts of your model in different units due to inconsistencies. Thus, you will have to convert SI units to Imperial units. Check example 4 in the example manual (http://opensees.berkeley.edu/wiki/index ... rtal_Frame). By using LibUnits.tcl (adopted for your use) you can make the conversion somewhat easy.
