Analyzing large number of 3D elements

Post by aminrahmaani »

Hi all,

I'm modeling soil media by using Brick8N 3D elements. Increasing the number of elements (say 4000 elements), I got this error:

"" BandGenLinSOE : ran out of memory for A <size, super,sub><123408, 3686, 3686> ""

My question is : Is there any limit for the number of elements and nodes in OpenSees?

These are the commands to perform the analysis:

integrator LoadControl [expr 1.0/50]
numberer RCM
constraints Penalty 1.e12 1.e12
test NormDispIncr 0.01 50 1
algorithm KrylovNewton
system BandGeneral
analysis Static

Thanks in advance,
Amin

no .. the solver is running out of memory, use a different solver .. i suggest a sparse solver.
