the parameter on BeamwithHinge

Post by quhui »

Hi, silvia

I use BeamwithHinge to model a concrete filled steel tube (CFST) column which plastic hinge occured at the ends. According to the user manual, the young's modulus should be input. but the young's modulus is not the same in calculating axial load and bending moment if the CFST column is looked as forming by a kind of composite material.

I want to know which one should be input, the composite compressive modulus of elasticity or composite bending modulus? or it is the young's modulus of steel tube or concrete?

since this is for the elastic behavior in the elastic section, you should use the equivalent E.
