How can I choose the best system command for my analysis?

do you really have such a big system of equations?

Excuse me Silvia, but I do the same analysis and I change only system command. The curve base shear - displacement change if I use UmfPack and SparseSPD or other system command.
therefor I would want to understand how choose the system command.
Is there any references on this topics?

it changes? i guess it means that your stiffness is not spd.
have you done an eigenvalue analysis to check your fundamental periods?

can you please mail me your files? opensees-support @berkeley.edu

i'd try to google the documentation on these, as they come from mathematical packages, from what i understand.

But in the manual say taht UmfPackSOE construct general sparse system of equations. Why the result is same SparseSPD.
