to get plastic hinge rotation...

Post by chris »

Hi. everyone...
To get plastic hinge rotation at the end of a concrete column, I just used a zerolength element with specified moment-rotation relationship.
Is it possible to use beamWithHinges element to get the rotation level of plastic hinge ?
If someone has an example about beamwithhinges elements, please give me some informaiton.

another question.
In general, the moment-curvature relationship of a column is defined based on a constant axial force. How about this beamwithhinges elements ?
Does this element consider about that ? ... for example, variation of axial force...

Thanks.

to be able to get axial-force-moment interaction you need to use a fiber section.
for the beamwithinges you define such a section and then you associate it with it, as well as giving the elastic-zone properties.
