Plastic hinge

Post by tahir »

hi dr.silvia
I have a question about zerolength element hope so u will explain that to me..im using lumped plasticity concept to model cantilever column as I explain in my earlier posts..Im using a zerolengthSection at the bottom of cantilever column to simulate the plastic hinge. Now I want that the results of zerolengthsection should be eqaul to the plastic hinge rotation,so if I multiplied the curvature obtained from zerolengthsection element to plastic hinge length it will give me the results of rotation over plastic hinge length. I am confused how can I do in opensees? I should do it post-process?or it is possible to do in opensees directly.Im not sure u got my point or not..But plz at least once read my question I can explain further if u want so.
I have tried to use the BeamWith hinges element but problem is that I cant modify the fiber in that element,if I am able to simulate plastic hinge with zerolength element then I can modify the zerolengthsection according to my concept..
thank u in advance
