zero-length elements

Hello,
I have a question about zero-length elements (ZLE). If the two end nodes of a zero-length element are not defined at a single point, does the element work properly? That is, is the length of a ZLE something virtual and unreal, or it has some sort of effect on its responses?

the distance between the nodes has no effect on the element, you may get a warning message that you can ignore.
