A question about damping

Post by foadEng »

Hi
I am doing some pushover analyses with opensees and I have a question about usage of damping in static analysis. In opensees examples (I mean in opensees example manual), for static analyses, damping is not used but in dynamic analyses it is used. I wanted to know the reason of that. I mean we should do this in our analyses or not? I think that we should use damping in pushover analyses, too but I wanted to be sure!
Thank you very much

Equivalent viscous damping is not needed in static analysis.
