difference between dispbeamcolumn and nonlinearbeamcolumn

Post by mojtaba_khodayari »

hi silvia,
can you say what difference between dispbeamcolumn and nonlinearbeamcolumn is exist?
i build a model one time with dispbeamcolumn and second time with nonlinearbeamcolumn.
and pushover curve of disp.. is above a nonlinear.. ,how can i get same result form
both of them? if any refrence about disp... exist can you introduce it?
have good holyday

the only way to get the same result is to use an elastic section or elastic fibers within all sections .. the nonlinear beam column or force beam column is a force based element in which forces are integrated over length to get results (as forces are known exactly from equi the only approx is the intgration) .. the dispBeamOlumn uses the displacement method in which the displacement field is approximated over length and resultants are integrated using this approximation.

i suggest you look at the references for the force beam column to see if one contains the theory or a reference for the displacement based ele.
