problems with ... ele load

Post by sorin »

I tried to understand what is the direction of a distributed load - using ele load beamuniform command - on a cantilever column.
So first I put a horisontal joint (concentrated) load (using -load- command)at the free end of the collumn to establish the positive bending moment, then I used -ele load beamuniform-command to describe a distributed load to the element (in the same direction as the previously horisontal joint) and the result is that the moment is not positive in the same direction as previously.

P.S. Also, I found nothing ,in the manual help, about the direction of the distribute load.

Hoping to a quick and a helpful answer , I thank you all!

the distributed load is defined in local coordinates.

also, you should apply end loads at the nodes directly, it is better numerically.

also, please show me some script.
