Modeling Simple Connections

Post by jwieser »

Hello Anyone,

I am new to OpenSees and am having difficulty modeling beams with end releases (simple "pin" connections). If anyone could let me know how this is done simply I would appreciate it.

Thank you

research the forum.
you have to put two nodes in the same location, one for each connecting element, and connect the dofs via equaldof or zero-length elements, or nothing.

There is not a command at the element level to apply this release? or some way to input the stiffness (i.e. 4-4-2 for rigid or 3-0-0 for pin-pin)?
