building and plotting fiber section

Post by Jfoyian »

Hi all,

I have a problem with my RC fiber section.

1. Is it possible to use different number of fibers in layers one under the other, like the following? Is there any connection problems?
______________
l___l___l___l___ l
l___l___l___l___ l
l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l
l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l_l

2. How do we plot and visualize the RC fiber section we produce? There is a script to do it in Matlab though, but since it is for a steel section I couldn't really figure out how to do it.

I am having a big trouble with my section and I would really appreciate any help of you!

Thanks!!

material stress strain curve output

Post by Jfoyian »

Can we plot the material behaviour curves i.e. material stress strain diagrams as an output in order to check whether we input the behaviour correctly or not? We can see the stress and strain values at any specified coordinate by time but what we actually want is to check the material itself. Is there anyone having an idea about that?

Thanks!!

put in a recorder at the fiber you are interested in.

if you want to just do a meterial test, just do a truss element.

if you do this in BuildingTcl, the current viewer shows you the material behavior, i believe.

The matlab scrips you mention can be use in RC section as well.
I find it is a useful tool to check the section.

This may help you: make your sections on a CAD-like software and then get the coordinates of those points of interest you need.

where do you get these Matlab scripts?
